Having finished my first race yesterday (the 5-mile Sharon Classic) I can say it's the children cheering that got me that last 200 yards with a smile on my face! I have a feeling I'm already addicted to this sport and I haven't even done my first tri yet!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17482678629267009052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11786280.post-78488084245837226152007-05-03T10:58:00.000-06:002007-05-03T10:58:00.000-06:00I did Arizona this year as my first Ironman. The pain fades and only the good remains! So why not do another one? It's just like any race only longer and with excellent support! It's the perfect opportunity to put everything you learned from the first one to use.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01884188662396799827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11786280.post-21345739988004157202007-05-02T05:37:00.000-06:002007-05-02T05:37:00.000-06:00So many goals are wishy-washy (thinking teaching h...So many goals are wishy-washy (thinking teaching here) with too many variables that are beyond our control. With IM: you train, you let it consume you for a year, and if you do everything on that training plan, you cross the finish line. How many other experiences provide challenge, yet almost-assured, quantifiable gratification?

Yeah, and like Nancy said, the cheering isn't bad either.Triteacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05754535685183391497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11786280.post-6600357449193955652007-04-29T05:48:00.000-06:002007-04-29T05:48:00.000-06:00There is no satisfaction like what you get when yo...There is no satisfaction like what you get when you work hard for a goal and reach the mountain top. Why would anyone climb Mount Everest again?? I ran my second (Olympic) because I wanted to prove I could swim the distance.

I think it was during the training for the Olympic race that my wife said, "You're going to do an Ironman, aren't you?" It was something I honestly hadn't considered. I told her, "I don't know." A couple weeks later, I did my third race at a co-worker's request.

Shortly after that, I tried to get into IMWI. And was mad when I couldn't. Louisville was a great opportunity.

Will I ever do another. I would say, "I don't know." My wife would say, "Of course. You've never seen the point of training if you aren't going to go for the biggest event you can find."Iron Polhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15491605781681633405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11786280.post-18458760372973171702007-04-28T13:06:00.000-06:002007-04-28T13:06:00.000-06:00I'm just now looking at doing a sprint triathlon -...I'm just now looking at doing a sprint triathlon - in fact, that's why I stumbled on your blog just now, because I was researching them. I'm actually mostly just looking at the idea of maybe possibly training for one. You've done a great job of verbalizing what is in my head about doing them. Thank you for writing this.rednikkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04908720735212147131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11786280.post-84022016476058684822007-04-28T11:14:00.000-06:002007-04-28T11:14:00.000-06:00To have someone who loves me at the finish line......To have someone who loves me at the finish line....I didn't the first time.
