Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get to the finish line.

The one in St. George, Utah.

Um....Yeah.

  1. I can't wait to follow the journey. I was so tempted to register myself - it looks like a fantastic course.

  5. I don't think so - we were keenly interested in it and will do it again at some point but for 2009 we need to stick closer to home and be con$ervative with the fund$.

  7. Hi.

Lurker here. 1st post. Had the same reaction about St George. (for my 1st iron distance). No ocean swim, beautiful scenery, close enough to home to not ship bikes. Then I read (on slowtwitch) "The bike course is "on a par with Coeur d'Alene," in difficulty, according to Huddle, "not quite as difficult as Placid or Wisconsin." But the run is another story. While it is all on-road, Huddle says it, "is definitely the hardest of any [Ironman] North American run course."

    Ummmm. Maybe not for me.

Love your blog. Keeps me inspired to keep going. Looks like Florida 2010 might be for me if I can figure out my way around the jellyfish.

  9. I'm considering altering the one I have now. I'm tired of people asking me if I'm a Broncos fan.

  11. I signed up yesterday. I'm in the process of making up a list as to why:
    1. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
    2. I've always wanted to see Utah in May.
    3. I need something to be terrified of. For a whole year.
    4. I want to lose 5 pounds. So what, if there are easier ways?!
    5. To take full advantage of the $35 I spent on my USAT membership.
    6. I'm not getting any younger.
    7. I needed a little more stress in my life.
    8. The course elevation and profile maps weren't posted yet, adding to the element of surprise.
    9. These things often fill up within hours, so I had to decide quickly.
    10. Really, I'm not sure why I signed up. I just want to do it (I think).

This will be my first IM. Good luck--maybe I'll see you there!

  13. This is awesome news! I can't wait to hear what it's like. We're driving to IM Idaho this June for my husband's race. So many beautiful places to race in!

2016

Even though I was in awful shape in 2016 I was still stubborn and foohardy...so I spent a year running down whatever fitness base I had left...
