I'm not anything-something.

I don't really feel like a forty-something. The other forty-somethings I see from time to time are from another world. Even Baboo said "they" seemed different. Even a lot of the thirty-somethings I see seem to have given up on doing, or being, interesting. I definitely don't feel fifty-something.

I suppose I should be happy approaching 50, looking at the AARP discount and buying a nice, fat, wallet for pictures of my grandchildren. I should be old, and wisened, and young people should come to me. I should be harassing my children about settling down and giving me grandchildren. No more of this silliness. Running and such. Time to just stop, and to Be.

I guess not.

  1. Awesome! Stop and be? No thank you. I feel much more when I have big things on the horizon. Or fun things. Or new things.

Good luck getting reacquainted with your bike. :)

  2. You signed up for BOULDER??? Brave lady :-)

  3. Wow! Go you!!

And why stop now? You're just getting to the good part! That sweet spot where you know how to get stuff done, you've done interesting stuff, and your body and mind are still (mostly) sound. Make it last as long as you can. Enjoy every minute you can.

  4. If you don't already follow SUAR (shut up and run), you might want to. She lives in Boulder and is an Ironman finisher. She's also a social worker, from what I gather reading her posts. You guys have lots in common! you'll be able to see some of the Boulder scenery she posts :)
Beware, she has a fixation with poop ;-)

  5. Go you! Why be normal!

You do know that 50 is the new 40 and 60 is the new 50...
Doing a 70.3 this year and working my way back up to an IM in 2014 too...I just don't know which one yet. Is Boulder still open?

  7. Anonymous5:53 PM

Shut up and Run (Beth) has done a 70.3...she is training for her first IM.
I have done two and Misty has already competed a few.

  8. All the best for Boulder! (That course at that elevation - now *there's* a challenge!)

  9. I'm going to be 59 at the end of the year. You know what I say to old and wizened? Fuck you! That's what I say!

Good luck in Boulder. I'll be wondering about it when I "race" IM Canada in a couple of weeks.

Dear Diary, For the first time in 7 years I have a goal. It takes a lot to get me motivated.  I am the demotivation queen.  The princess...
